World safety leaders converge on Melbourne for NMW 2015

Thursday, 02 April, 2015

Leading safety experts will gather in Melbourne for this year’s Safety First Conference & Expo during National Manufacturing Week.

The four-day conference, to be held from 26-29 May, will feature more than a dozen speakers, including Dr Angelica Vecchio-Sadus, one of Australia’s top women in health and safety, from the CSIRO Manufacturing Flagship.

Other confirmed speakers, who will present new research, strategies and real-world advice to share with safety professionals through the Premium Forum events, include Griffith University’s Professor Sidney Dekker and DuPont Sustainable Solutions’ Dr Rod Gutierrez.

“One of the real benefits of the Premium Forums is the opportunity to benchmark your practices against best practices and achievements in the industry,” said Anthony Reed, event director for Safety First.

“Each of the sessions has been designed to give you high-level ideas and strategies - and because they’re taking place behind closed doors, you will have a rare opportunity to quiz industry leaders about what they, and you, can do differently to influence safety outcomes.”

The forums will cover core themes such as Safety Leaders Skills, Human Factors for Safety Leaders and Psychological Injury.

The conference forums and drop-in sessions will take place against an expo of innovative safety products and services, alongside National Manufacturing Week.

“Safety First Conference & Expo is the only one-stop workplace safety event in Australia - and it will be a great resource for safety professionals seeking to boost their own skills, and their organisation’s safety standards,” said Reed.
