What's on at QME 2014
The Queensland Mining & Engineering (QME) Exhibition is set to include a dedicated ‘Women in Mining Day’, Safety Panel and TechTalks seminar series. Being held from 22 to 24 July at the Mackay Showground in Queensland, these various content initiatives will complement the event’s 600 exhibiting suppliers of innovative mining technology.
The Safety Panel Discussion will be held on the opening day in the Community Hub. The complimentary education session will provide attendees with an interactive dialogue about safety standards and procedures within the industry, safety challenges individuals face during daily operations, safety issues the industry is likely to face as it transitions to the production phase and touch on personal stories. The panellists include:
- Wayne W Harley, CEO of Queensland Mine Rescue Services
- Rachel Blee, A Miners Legacy
- Facilitator: Lainie Anderson, Director of Mining Family Matters
All three days of QME 2014 will feature a series of educational seminars or TechTalks about the latest step-change technology and innovations. These will be delivered by representatives from Atlas Automated Drilling, Enviro Fluid, EPC Projects, iVolve, RedEye Apps, Sandvik Mining and Siemens.
In addition to the informative and educational content initiatives at the event, Siemens will be conducting an electricity generation competition to determine the most productive mining professional, which will be measured by the amount of power generated in five minutes on a stationary electric bike. To pre-register for Siemens’ competition, go to QME at www.qldminingexpo.com and with Siemens at www.siemens.com.au/mining-qme/qme/.
