South Australia Safe Work Awards
South Australia’s 2008 Safe Work Awards were presented in Adelaide on 7 November by the Minister for Industrial Relations Paul Caica.
Judges from SafeWork SA, WorkCoverSA, Business SA and SA Unions considered 42 entries and then conducted site visits and examined workplace safety system documents in their assessment.
The winners were:
- Best Workplace Health and Safety Management System — ETSA Utilities
- Best Solution to an Identified Workplace Health and Safety Issue — Toll Autologistics' ‘Flatpack Vehicle Transporter’
- Best Workplace Health and Safety Practices in Small Business — The Association of Wall & Ceiling Industries of South Australia
- Public Sector Leadership Award for Injury Prevention and Management — The Repatriation General Hospital
- Employer of the Year — Eldercare
- Employee of the Year — Tricia Gilroy
- Health and Safety Representative of the Year:
Winner — Viki Coad for work at Carl Zeiss Vision
Highly commended — Brian Edwards of The City of Port Adelaide Enfield - Best Public Event Safety — South Australia Police for Tour Down Under
