Road safety program comes to WA
A road safety leadership program is being run by Monash University in Western Australia for the first time.
The Monash University Accident Research Centre’s three-day Executive Leadership Management Program will be run in Perth.
It will hear from some of Australia's most trusted and respected road safety experts, and encourage delegates to consider new ways to approach road safety.
The program will guide participants through the Safe System approach, a system that accepts drivers make mistakes and looks at the design of roads, safe speed limits and vehicle design as a way of reducing road trauma.
"As work continues on the next road safety strategy for Western Australia, we need leaders within our community to lead the paradigm shift required for zero road trauma,” said Road Safety Minister Michelle Roberts.
"The MUARC Executive Leadership Management Program will provide WA leaders, not just within government but from not-for-profit organisations, the private sector and local government, with the tools to promote road safety within their own organisations.
"Zero road deaths and serious injury on WA roads is achievable and programs like the MUARC Executive Leadership Management Program are a crucial tool as we continue our journey."
It is expected participants in the program will share the information with their organisations, industry and communities to shift the way people think about road safety.
