Occupational Safety in Transport Conference 2014

The second international conference on Occupational Safety in Transport (OSIT 2014) will be held at the Crowne Plaza Surfers Paradise from 18-19 September 2014.

Hosted by The Centre for Accident Research and Road Safety - Queensland (CARRS-Q), the multidisciplinary event will feature representatives from all facets of transport safety, including road safety, aviation and watercraft, defence, rail, fleets and associated fields. Themes will be varied and cover topics such as:

  • transport safety culture and management,
  • technology for the improvement of safety, systems and behaviour,
  • transport-related impairments and return to work assessment processes,
  • industry logistics and transport safety risk,
  • developing and evaluating safety programs,
  • transport safety innovations, challenges and opportunities.

Keynote speakers will be drawn from both academia and industry, from Australia and overseas, and will bring new and innovative research and practice to the conference. Speakers so far include:

  • Professor Ann Williamson, Director of the Transport and Road Safety (TARS) research group. Professor Williamson’s research is in the area of human factors, primarily focusing on the effects of fatigue and the role of human error in injury and safety.
  • Colonel Simon Tuckerman, Commander of the 1st Joint Movements Group, Australian Defence Force. In this role he is responsible for the movement of Australian forces, equipment and materiel to and from operational theatres and major exercises.
