Man charged for assaulting WorkSafe officer
A Victorian man has been charged following a series of incidents during an investigation of alleged safety breaches at a North Fitzroy construction site in June 2021. The sole director of 896 Fitzroy North Pty Ltd is facing three charges under section 125 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
WorkSafe Victoria alleges that the man breached section 125(1) (a) of the OHS Act by intentionally hindering a WorkSafe Inspector in the performance of their functions or exercise of their powers during a site inspection in June 2021. The man also allegedly breached section 125(2) of the Act by intimidating and assaulting the inspector.
The matter will be addressed at the Neighbourhood Justice Centre, Collingwood, on 28 September 2022.
