With the commencement of new work health and safety laws fast approaching, WorkCover NSW is taking its training program online through a series of webinars. Over the next month, WorkCover will hold five interactive webinars as part of its ‘Work health and safety - new legislation is coming’ program. Each webinar will focus on a different aspect of the new laws, including the role of health and safety representatives, officers and volunteers, changes for small business and amendments to the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2000 (NSW).

The webinars are essential for any employer and worker wanting to learn more about the new laws, said General Manager of WorkCover’s Work Health and Safety Division, John Watson. “Under the new arrangements, all jurisdictions are harmonising their work health and safety laws and these webinars will help business develop a greater understanding of their impact. Fundamentally, what is safe practice now will continue under the new arrangements.

“All you need is a computer with an internet connection to participate in the webinars, so we’re encouraging all employers and workers wanting to learn how the new laws affect their workplace to go online and register.”
