Disruptive safety key focus at upcoming safety show
One of the largest safety and workplace health events in Australia, Safety in Action, will be coming to Sydney from 6–8 September, focusing on ‘disruptive safety’ in the workplace.
More than 5000 WHS professionals across manufacturing, government, construction, health care, transport, distribution, cleaning and engineering are expected to attend.
“It’s estimated that over 2000 workers die from a work-related illness each year, highlighting the urgent need for national improvements to prevent and reduce the number and severity of injuries and illnesses in the future,” said Keith Barks, general manager at Informa Australia.
Running parallel to the event will be the Safety Institute of Australia (SIA) National Convention. Included in the convention program this year will be the SIA Annual General Meeting, OHS education awards, an OHS leaders’ and CEOs’ breakfast, as well as a ‘Women in Leadership’ forum.
The two-day conference will also offer attendees over 20 free seminars on insights and priorities for employee safety, with mental health and physical wellbeing a key topic. Presentations include Beyondblue, SafeWork NSW, Myosh, Mayo Hardware and Aframes Safety.
Registration to the exhibition will also include access to CleanScene, an Australian cleaning and hygiene show. Presented by the National Cleaning Suppliers Association (NCSA), the co-located event will feature a number of exhibitors catering for cleaners, commercial, industrial and facility managers, and government agencies.
