Abigroup appoints new safety chief
Graeme Silvester has joined Abigroup as its new National Safety Manager, based in the company’s Brisbane office. Abigroup is a national contractor delivering works in roads, buildings, water, rail, mining services, tunnels, bridges and telecommunications. He has also served as Chairman of the National Safety Council of Australia for two years and as one of its directors for five years.
Silvester moved to Abigroup from Macmahon Contractors and has more than 21 years of experience in the health, safety, environment and risk management areas in a diverse number of positions and locations both in Australia and overseas, including employment with ENERGEX, Queensland Rail and Brunei Shell Petroleum.
John Kirkwood, Abigroup’s National Operations Director, said: “At Abigroup, we believe that safety never stops and Graeme will help us make sure that we continue with and improve on the high standards we’ve already set.”
