2013 NSCA safety winners announced

In its 21st year of honouring the work health and safety industry’s best practice, best people and best performance, the NSCA announced the winners of its 2013 NSCA/GIO Workers Compensation National Safety Awards of Excellence. This year’s finalists and winners took home honours in seven categories with winners announced at the gala event held on 17 October in Sydney.

Olympic Gold Medallist Kerri Pottharst was the Master of Ceremonies at the luncheon. The Hon Eric Abetz, Minister of Employment, provided an inspiring keynote address.

Barwon Water Alliance claimed top honours on the day by winning the pinnacle award. The judges recognised its fantastic initiatives, multifaceted approach across all areas of the organisation and after four years achieving an outstanding safety record with a zero injury frequency rate with over 1 million man-hours worked.

Category 3 Best WHS Training Program
Winner: RSPCA Queensland

Category 4 Best Communication of a Safety Message
Winner: Metro
