Toyota has developed a steel bull bar that is SRS airbag-compatible for the new-generation HiLux.

The Breaker bull bar is designed for heavy-duty workhorse/rural use, includes provision for a winch and is compatible with genuine accessory side rails.

The Breaker bull bar has been crash-tested with winch and side rails in place to ensure full SRS airbag compatibility.

The deep-drawn pressed steel manufacturing process for the Breaker bar provides a smooth exterior finish and reduces the need for welding, which is a common contributor to cracking.

The bar was designed to meet a complex set of safety and style goals, while providing effective protection for the vehicle in the event of an animal strike. In the case of frontal impact, the Breaker's mounting bracket has been designed to collapse gradually, thereby avoiding a spike in the transfer of loads to the chassis rail, which might in turn cause incorrect deployment of the vehicle's SRS airbags.

The winch location was carefully selected to minimise interference with the vehicle chassis during collapse. It includes additional front indicators and large ventilation ducts for the radiator.

The design also includes mounting points for driving lights, CB aerial and an optional winch cradle. The bull bar is available in narrow and wide body designs, to suit HiLux 4x4 SR and SR5 model grades.
