Australian manufacturer of safe access products, Bailey has released dual-purpose ladders aimed at increasing safety, stability and ease of use for DIY'ers and trade professionals.

The Comet Plus and Professional Contractor dual-purpose ladders have been designed to meet customer demand for ladders that are safer, stronger, easier to use and incorporate a number of features not currently available on the market.

Hills Industries' product manager for ladders, Chris Mayo, said Bailey's enhanced dual-purpose ladders improved functionality by introducing an auto-lock feature. This converts an A-frame stepladder to a straight ladder and back again at the push of a button.

They also incorporate the 'quick release' push-button mechanism that automatically locks the ladder into place when it is in the straight position. This offers an alternative to traditional dual-purpose ladder designs that incorporate side clips which must be manually engaged for ladder conversion. According to Hills Industries it is the only dual-purpose ladder in Australia that offers this unique feature.

According to Hills Industries the new back leg design makes the ladders stronger and more stable than any other aluminum dual-purpose ladder, while Bailey's Punchlock design makes them 70% stronger than traditional pop-riveted stepladders as well as more resistant to twisting.

Other features include tri-plate bracing while still being lightweight and portable.

Bailey's Comet Plus dual-purpose ladder has a 135 kg load rating and is suitable for DIY'ers and the serious handyman, while the Professional Contractor dual-purpose ladder's heavy-duty industrial load rating of 150 kg is suited to trade professionals. Bailey is an ISO 9001 manufacturer.

The dual-purpose ladders are available in three sizes - 1.8/3.2 , 2.1/3.8 and 2.4/4.4 m.
