Worksafe Expo 2006

The 2006 Worksafe Expo is being held at the TelstraClear Pacific Events Centre in Manukau, New Zealand from 5-6 April.
The event will include workshops and seminars aimed at making workplaces safer.
Workshops include safety compliance, noise control - protecting your hearing, and safety reps - making a difference. Seminar topics will include office ergonomics, machine guarding - how much is enough?, and OHS legal round-up for the year.
Special guest speakers will include:
- Karen Fletcher, Health and Safety Organiser, New Zealand Council of Trade Unions (NZCTU) - Karen Fletcher represents the NZCTU on the Department of Labour's Workplace Health and Safety Strategy 2015 committee, is involved with negotiating codes of practice and guidelines with industry groups and delivers health and safety rep training.
- Peter Kiely, Project H&S Manager, ARWCF Team Isis, Hawkins Construction Ltd - Peter is currently employed by Hawkins Construction Ltd in the role of health and safety manager on their Auckland Region Women's Correction Facility project, which is currently being constructed for the Department of Corrections and is a $100M project, employing 700 on-site personnel at the peak of construction.
- Dr Geriant Emrys, Chief Advisor, Occupational Health, Department of Labour - Dr Geraint Emrys is Chief Advisor to the Department of Labour Workplace group. He has worked in a speciality chemical industry and various companies around the Mersey basin in the UK for 6 years before joining HSE as the Medical Inspector covering Wales.
