Sydney ambulances accelerate
Thursday, 10 April, 2003
The providers of a new wireless network installation claim it will help speed Sydney ambulances on their way, cutting response time.
The network, managed by ADT Wireless, should provide a more accurate location of each ambulance, so allowing control room operators to better pinpoint and assign the closest vehicle to an emergency.
The new network is based on Ericsson's Mobitex technology. Each ambulance will carry a new mobile data terminal, allowing the ambulances to send text queries and transmit information to the communication centre operators while en route.
