Signet sponsors Games hopeful
Monday, 06 March, 2006
On the eve of the Melbourne Commonwealth Games, national packaging and safety supplier, Signet has renewed its support of Australian sport, by announcing the sponsorship of triathlete, Emma Snowsill.
Emma recently added a second ITU world title to her long list of accomplishments in the sport, having successfully defended her crown in Gamagori, Japan.
As reigning ITU World Champion, Emma is one of Australia's brightest medal hopes for the Commonwealth Games in March.
She is also a favourite to break Australia's triathlon 'hoodoo' which, despite our athletes' global domination of the sport, has left us without Commonwealth or Olympic gold to date.
Signet general manager, Mark Brennan said that the company's sponsorship program, now in its sixth year, continues to be an investment that benefits the community, Signet's staff and customers.
"Emma is a talented athlete whose determination, perseverance and heart inspired us greatly, and triathlon is one of the fastest growing sports in Australia," he said.
"Her bid for gold at the Commonwealth Games has generated a great deal of interest internally and among our customers, which helps balance our work focus with a very positive and exciting new dimension.
"Of course we think she'll win the gold!" he said.
Emma Snowsill, along with her teammates will contest the Commonwealth Games Women's Triathlon on 16 March at the St Kilda foreshore.
