A shopping centre management company has been convicted and fined $40,000 after an 18-year-old worker became trapped under a forklift while helping set up a Sunday market at Croydon.

FPD Savills (Vic) Pty Ltd pleaded guilty to two workplace health and safety changes in the Ringwood Magistrates' Court this week. It was fined $20,000 on each count. "With two forklift-related deaths recently, this court case is a poignant reminder about the dangers of these machines, particularly when it comes to training and supervision of the workers using them," WorkSafe Victoria's Executive Director, John Merritt said.
