NT students brushing up on OH&S
Sunday, 05 March, 2006
High school students in the Northern Territory will receive information on OH&S issues before they enter the workforce as part of an iniative by Worksafe NT.
The Safe Start Education Resources Kit is aimed at Year nine to twelve students. The Kit aims to raise students awareness of OH&S issues before they enter into vocational training and careers.
It is hoped Safe Start will enable students to explain the importance of OH&S; outline the responsibilities of employers and employees; identify and assess hazards and risks in the workplace; explain how workers' compensation operates; and describe how rehabilitation assists a safe return to work.
The Kit's core information is broken into four main sections:
- prevention
- common hazards
- workplace relations
- workers' compensation and rehabilitation
