According to the NSW state government, the death rate among workers in the state is at a record 20-year low.
NSW Minister for Commerce, John Della Bosca said workers compensation figures for 2003-2004 showed the rate of 13.6 injuries per 1000 employees, which was now at its lowest level since the mid-1980s.
According to the minister, the highest proportion of the 132 work-related deaths in NSW were as a result of people travelling to and from work, with a total of 40 people dying in the course of work-related travel during the 2003-2004 period.
