Smelter boots

The Oliver Smelter Boots 25-298 and 25-299 are designed for the international aluminium smelter industry, with application to the foundry and other ‘hot-metal’, high-heat industrial environments.

The boots have Type 1 non-magnetic aluminium protective toe-caps because of strong magnetic fields and the electrical conductivity that exist in the immediate smelter area and are dip tested in molten aluminium at 960 °C for 3 s.

For comfort, the boots feature wide-profile toe-caps with internal latex cushion liners to ensure toes are not in contact with caps; Comfortcushion that combines cellular urethane and Poron to protect the heel and the ball of the foot and reduce foot, leg and lower back fatigue; and Nanolite foot bed that massages feet by movement and promotes greater blood flow to reduce fatigue.

Safety features include slip-resistant soles that are also resistant to mineral oils, acids and organic oils and fats; outsoles that are resistant to 300 °C surface contact; TECtuff toe guards that protect front edges; heat-resistant and flame-retardant leather uppers; quick-release Velcro closure; and three rows of Kevlar stitching on all critical seams.

Style No 25-299 offers a Metatarsal Guard for further protection against impact on the leading edge of the foot.
