AlphaTec gloves are suitable for personnel who are required to refuel aircraft, tanks and other equipment. The gloves meet all Australian Defence Force requirements, including chemical hazard standard EN 374-1:2003 (AS/NZS 2161.10.1:2005).
The gloves’ grip technology provides an ultra-thin nitrile coating to direct fluids away from the grip surface, which is claimed to deliver good grip in oily and wet environments.
The surface configuration works in a manner similar to tyre treads cutting through water on a roadway, with the channels propelling oils and other lubricants away from the pressure surface. This provides a relatively dry contact area that allows workers to maintain almost the same grip in oily applications they would have in dry conditions.
Poor grip when handling oil-coated objects in refuelling environments reduces comfort and may increase fatigue or muscle strain, leading to loss of control and a reduction in safety.
