Elliotts arc flash switching clothing
Elliotts’ range of personal protective clothing for the electrical utility industry includes arc flash protective clothing, including hoods, jackets and leggings, that is manufactured from high-visibility orange Westex Ultrasoft. The switching clothing is manufactured to meet the requirements of AS/NZS 4602:1999 High Visibility Safety Garments Class D.
The UltraSoft fabrics also meet standards for: flame-resistant fabrics - ASTM F1506 and NFPA 70E; and high visibility - AS/NZS 1906.4:2010 Retroreflective materials and devices for road traffic control purposes - High-visibility materials for safety garments.
The UltraSoft line of flame-resistant 88% cotton/12% high-tenacity nylon fabrics is guaranteed flame resistant for the life of the garment in either high-temperature industrial or home washing procedures. The fabric is engineered to focus the good abrasion resistance of the nylon on the outer surface to enhance garment wear life, while the cotton fibres are focused towards the skin to optimise comfort. In addition, the UltraSoft fabrics are engineered to have a soft feel to further enhance the comfort properties of cotton. The fabrics are fully flame resistant and the 12% nylon enhances the protective performance in some cases, such as electric arc and flash fire exposures.
