Sundström SR500ex powered air purifying respirator
The Sundström SR500ex powered air purifying respirator is designed and approved for use in explosive or ignition atmospheres. It is an alternative to negative-pressure filter respirators in situations where these are recommended. The fan unit can be used with Sundström hoods, face shields and full-face masks that are also intrinsically safe certified.
This single-button operated fan unit offers visual and audible displays including normal (175 L/min and boost (225 L/min) functions, dip in air flow/clogged particle filters, low battery and air flow obstruction warnings.
When used with Sundström hoods and shields, the PAPR provides 200 (TH3) protection factor and 1000 (TH3) protection factor with a full-face mask. The PAPR is AS/NZS 1716 Australian Standard approved and IP67 rated.
When selecting filters and head-tops, users must take the following factors into consideration: work intensity, types of pollutions, concentrations, the possible occurrence of an explosive atmosphere and protection requirements.
A risk analysis should also be carried out by an OH&S or WHS professional who has suitable training and experience in RPE.
