Forklift safety and security systems at NMW
Products for forklifts and other industrial equipment will be released by Dunham Instruments at Matex during National Manufacturing Week, to be held at Sydney's Darling Harbour from May 30 to June 2.
Products to be released by Dunham Instruments include the Keytroller keypad-based vehicle monitoring system suitable for any forklift or off-road industrial vehicle, Jay Line bolt on fork tyne protectors to minimise wear from ground contact at the heel of the tynes, and the RWV Autonome weighing system integrated in the forks.
The Keytroller monitoring system is available in both keypad and LCD screen models; this system replaces conventional key-start systems for industrial products, from forklifts and sweepers, through to large off-road equipment, such as mining and earthmoving products.
With the Keytroller fitted, machines can only be started with the correct codes or RFID tag. In addition, operation outside of working hours can be locked out, shift times can be programmed in and, on the LCD model, pre-start checks and warnings can be programmed in.
In addition, it can be set to warn of excessive speeds (and monitor them), to count down until the next preventive maintenance service, to warn of potential drive train failures, and to record any abusive impacts.
The system can also be connected to WiFi and other networks, including vehicle-tracking systems, so that the location and performance of the machine can be continuously monitored.
Excessive wear on fork tines requires that they be replaced after more than 10% of the metal loss, usually at the heel. The Jay Line bolt-on fork protectors are a simple solution to this common problem, providing a sacrificial wear material that can simply be replaced when they are worn down to the forks.
An additional Jay Line product to be launched is a rubber load protector, which bolts on to the vertical rear section of the forks, protecting whitegoods and other scratch-prone products from handling damage.
RWV Autonome in-fork weighing system is a weighing system designed to give at-a-glance indications of the weight of the load on the forks, with a small LCD screen on the back of the forks giving the operator an immediate load reading.
An autonomous weighing system, it operates independently from the lift truck, with no cabling or mounting or other adjustments to the lift truck required.
Features include:
- Automatic and manual zero correction
- Gross/net weighing
- Automatic tare and manual tare weight entry
- Totalisation with sequence number
- Error indication in display
- Overload protection of 300%.
