Optimum Handling Solutions has installed two SIAT automatic film attach and cut stretch wrappers at a processing plant, reducing pallet film usage to one-third of the previous usage rate.

The SIAT pedestal stretch wrappers were placed in the chill room and, between them, handle 300 pallets per shift. Two forklift operators keep the rate of pallets up to the stretch wrappers without leaving the forklift seat, with small remote controllers used to start the wrapping cycle on the SIAT stretch wrappers.

The pallet is placed on the turntable of the stretch wrapper and the forklift driver presses the remote button. The driver then moves the wrapped pallet to storage or despatch while the second forklift places the next pallet onto the stretch wrapper and presses the remote to start the cycle again. Meanwhile, the first forklift operator places another pallet on the second stretch wrapper and continues the output rate.
