PSENcode safety switch

Wednesday, 18 January, 2006 | Supplied by: Pilz Australia Industrial Automation LP

A non-contact coded safety switch, PSENcode, from Pilz is claimed to meet the highest requirements for safety gate monitoring, the highest level of security and 10 units can be connected in a single series.

PSENcode satisfies category 4 of AS4024.1 and the definite assignment of a switch and its counterpart makes it almost impossible to defeat the safety gate as required by state plant regulations. A fully coded version of the switch is also available for particularly demanding safety applications.

Ten safety switches can be connected in series and meet category 4 requirements, making PSENcode suitable for complex plant and minimising the amount of wiring involved.

PSENcode is quick and easy to install, as there is no need to wire a second switch. Five directions of actuation and a long switching distance of at least 17 mm ensure maximum flexibility during installation.

Dust resistant and waterproof, the PSENcode is rated at IP67 and can be used in the pharmaceutical and food industries as well as on metal processing plant and machinery.

The PSENcode switch expands the existing Pilz range of non-contact magnetic safety switches. It complements safe monitoring technology, including safe PNOZ relays, PSS programmable safety systems and the safe, open bus system, SafetyBUS p.
