Pinnacle New Switching Device Safety Mat System

Pinnacle’s switching device safety mats are pressure-sensitive products that help stop hazardous machines operating in the presence of a worker. They are intended to connect to safety relay controllers for normally open (NO) single-pole, single-throw (SPST) 4-wire safety mats and are designed to be flexible, impact resistant, rust resistant and operational when punctured. They also have heavy-duty electrode assemblies and durable outer shells to help them withstand heavy loads.

The mats’ safety relay controllers contain two independent control circuits which allow for shut down if a failure occurs in one of the control circuits. Their NO output circuit is controlled by two captive contact relays in series which are both monitored. If the contact in one relay sticks closed, the other relay will shut down and an LED will alert users of the fault. The fault can be cleared with a power reset if the bad relay opens up again.
