The flexible SC22-3 safety controller from Banner Engineering lowers the installation and troubleshooting costs of interfacing multiple safety devices to machine control systems. It can handle a variety of input devices, including emergency stops, light curtains, two-hand controls, interlock switches and safety mats, making it a suitable replacement for multiple dedicated safety modules.

Applications include robotic welding cells, power presses and other machinery used in the automotive, metalworking, materials handling, packaging and printing industries. The controller supports lean manufacturing cells.

Set-up is simple, using either an intuitive PC interface (included) or the controller’s onboard interface. The graphical PC interface allows users to quickly create and document complex safety logic configurations incorporating multiple inputs and outputs. Faults are automatically detected and diagnostic information is displayed to help correct problems.

22 contact-based and PNP solid-state inputs can be monitored, accommodating a wide range of input types for safety and non-safety devices. Each input is mapped to any of three dual channel safety outputs. A combination of LCD and LED status indicators keep users informed of power, faults, output status and communication status with the PC.

The controller complies with the Safety Integrity Level (SIL) 3 per IEC 62061 and IEC61508 and Category 4 Performance Level (PL e) per ISO 13849-1.
