IDEC Corporation’s HS1T interlock switch can be used on large doors and equipment requiring strong locking force. The 40 mm-wide switch can provide 5000 N of actuator retention force and has mechanical durability for up to two million operations.
It comes with spring or solenoid locks, with the solenoid model only consuming 200 mA of energy, allowing it be activated without using a relay.
The switch’s locking and mounting functions are integrated via its metal head to prevent the head breaking away from the mounting body. Additionally, the head’s rotating function means users can change actuator entry direction.
The switch has three independent rotary cams, where two cams control the locking mechanism and one drives the door monitor circuit (contact). This provides redundancy, additional strength and ensures that the monitoring function continues to work even if the locking cam is damaged.
The device meets ISO standard 14119:203 for lock monitoring, meaning that a lock monitor contact can be used to track the status of protective doors and locking function. According to the manufacturer, it’s designed so that it can never indicate that a door is closed unless it is positively closed, in order to prevent the associated machine from being turned on with hazards exposed.
Users can observe a door’s locking status from the front and back via the rear unlock mechanical indicator.
