Rockwell Automation has available the Allen-Bradley Guardmaster 440C-CR30, a flexible, configurable safety relay suitable for applications requiring 4 to 10 safety circuits and control of up to five zones.

The safety relay is configured through connected components workbench (CCW) software, which is the same programming environment used by the Micro 800 family of controllers, PanelView component HMIs and PowerFlex drives. Users are therefore able to create, control and monitor a safety system in the same software environment as their standard control.

According to the company, the software enables users to deploy complex safety functions through an intuitive logic editor to select certified safety function blocks for the safety relay. An embedded Modbus interface allows the safety relay to communicate diagnostic data so users can monitor, troubleshoot and modify their applications. Five status and 16 user-configurable LEDs on the safety relay’s faceplate provide local diagnostics to further aid in status reporting and troubleshooting.

The safety relay features 22 onboard configurable safety I/O points in a 110 mm footprint and provides a flexible solution for applications requiring multiple safety zones. Without increasing the footprint, the relay can also be expanded with two plug-in modules to support 16 additional standard I/O points.
