Capital Safety Lad-Saf powered climb-assist system

The Lad-Saf powered climb-assist system does not require a separate or secondary fall-protection system. This fall-arrest-rated, dual system simplifies safety and increases worker productivity by providing both climbing assistance and fall protection to workers ascending fixed-ladder systems within wind turbine towers.

The system is designed to lift between 20-55 kg, effectively reducing the climber’s weight by that amount, reducing fatigue and allowing for faster and easier climbs. To use, the climber attaches the ladder safety sleeve to the cable system and to the front D-ring of their fall-protection harness, activates the motor and begins climbing. The 240 V motor is deactivated as users stop climbing. If they slip while climbing, the system locks and arrests the fall, allowing users to regain their footing and handhold.

Wind turbines can be as high as 90 m, so fatigue can easily set in for workers climbing ladders to these heights. The system increases safety and saves time and money by providing an easier climb and eliminating the need to purchase an additional height safety system.

The system includes top and bottom ladder bracket assemblies, motor assembly and control panel. Standard tools can be used to install the system, which can also be easily retrofitted into any size tower.
