E-safe 2007 cancelled
The natural disaster declaration for the Hunter region and Central Coast has resulted in the cancellation of the E-Safe 2007 event, which was to be held in Parramatta this Wednesday and Thursday, 13-14 June.
Integral Energy was due to host the annual energy industry safety event, but cancelled it due to the demand on the electrical industry caused by the storm and flooding.
"While regrettable, this decision was made following discussions with other lead organisations in the interests of ensuring that priority is given to the safe restoration of electricity supply to everyone affected by the region's natural disaster," said Daniel Lucas, Integral Energy's acting CEO.
"Importantly, proceeding with e-safe 2007 may have affected the industry's ability to respond to the communities' needs."
More than 3000 employees from the energy and utilities sectors were due to descend on Rosehill Gardens Exhibition Centre for the two-day event. They were to compete in team competitions, attend seminars and view exhibits from safety equipment and occupational health and safety suppliers, manufacturers and trainers.
"It is disappointing to call off the expo, but we'd like to thank everyone involved for their understanding, given the extenuating circumstances," he said.
Integral Energy will host the annual industry event in 2008, which will be confirmed at a later date.
