Jo Bird wins two major Australian contracts
Jo Bird, a UK-based designer and manufacturer of storage cabinets for fire, safety, lifesaving and emergency equipment, has secured two major contracts in Australia, including one for the massive Gorgon project.
The Gorgon project required fire-extinguisher and fire-hose-cabinets placed throughout Barrow Island that could resist not only cyclones, but earthquakes as well. Jo Bird is now providing 1200 fire extinguisher cabinets and 300 fire hose cabinets to Gorgon and this represents the single largest cabinet order the company has ever had.
The first major contract Jo Bird won in Western Australia was the North Rankin B compression platform for Woodside Australia. Jo Bird is looking to expand further into the Asia-Pacific region, with its next target market already identified as Korea. The company estimates an export turnover of over $1.5m for 2011.
