The WES400AC-DC welding voltage reducer is a low-voltage safety device designed to operate on any constant current welding machine (stick welder) with an open-circuit voltage of 45-100 V, maintaining the output voltage under 12 V until the arc is struck, thereby preventing the operator from receiving an electric shock.
On striking the arc, full selected output is immediately available. A built-in post-weld timer will hold the output to the full open circuit voltage for 2 s to facilitate stitch or vertical welding. The voltage then reverts to the safe output of under 12 V until the next arc strike.
A welding tool fitted with the safety device will only energise if the work connection is sound, thereby eliminating electric shock.
The unit consists of a sensing circuit that monitors the resistance between electrode and return and a solid-state switch which instantaneously shuts off the output when electric shock is imminent. It simply connects to the output terminals of the welder.
The device features an output of 400 A, IP23-rating and an LED to confirm operational safety.
