FLIR GF309 infrared camera

Thursday, 14 January, 2010 | Supplied by: Teledyne FLIR

The GF309 infrared camera has been specifically developed for high-temperature industrial furnace applications and is claimed to ‘see through flames’ in all types of gas-fired furnaces, chemical heaters and coal-fired boilers.

The camera features a detachable heat-shield designed to reflect heat away from the camera as well as provide increased protection for the operator.

With a temperature measurement range of -40 to +1500°C, the camera provides readings across the entire surface of the heater/boiler/furnace, speeding up inspections, making work conditions safer and helping avoid unscheduled shutdowns or emergencies.

Applications include inspecting ‘fired tubes’ for coking and scaling, boilers for slag or ash build-up and external fire boxes to show where insulating blankets or refractory bricks are disrupted on the inside.

Key features include dual-use camera for furnace and ambient temperatures, thermal sensitivity of <25 mK, tiltable high-resolution (800 x 480) 4.3 LCD viewfinder, rotating handle with direct access buttons and embedded GPS data and digital images to identify precise locations of inspected area.
