Queensland appoints mine inspection staff

The Queensland government has recently appointed four new mines inspection staff to help strengthen and improve the safety and health performance of the mining industry.

Mines and Energy Minister Geoff Wilson said the inspectors were already on the job throughout central and northern Queensland, spreading the message that safety starts with every shift on every mine.

The inspectors include:

  • Manager of safety and health central region, Doug White (based in Rockhampton)
  • Senior inspector of mines, Tilman Rasche
  • Inspector of mines, north region, Damian Lee (based in Mount Isa)
  • North region inspection officer, Steven Firth (based at Townsville).
