Update on review of model WHS laws
A review of the model Work Health and Safety (WHS) laws is being undertaken by Safe Work Australia in 2018.
The review is looking at whether the model WHS laws are achieving the objectives stated in the model WHS Act, or if they have resulted in unintended consequences.
Marie Boland, former Executive Director of SafeWork SA, was engaged by Safe Work Australia to conduct the review.
The public submission period of the review has now closed — approximately 380 people attended face-to-face consultations and 136 written submissions were received.
Boland has prepared a summary outlining the views and experiences shared during the consultation meetings and in written submissions. The summary provides an overview of the key issues stakeholders raised about the operation of the model WHS laws.
