Monday, 28 April, 2014

If your name is Scott and you train hard, it seems you had a better than average chance of winning this year’s Australasian Police and Emergency Services Games stair race.

Scott McGraw of Victoria Metrofire took out the top spot in the firefighting gear category in 8 minutes and 57 seconds, while Scott McTaggart of the Australian Federal Police won the athletic gear category in a time of 6 minutes and 4 seconds.

The 160 m vertical race to the 43rd floor of Melbourne’s Rialto Building, sponsored by Scott Safety, was held over the Easter weekend and attracted over fifty competitors from both sides of the Tasman.

Scott McGraw’s winning run was an incredible feat considering the 23 kilos of firefighting gear worn by competitors. The full kit included Australian standard firefighting equipment including helmet, turnout coat, turnout pants, gloves and boots and full Scott Safety breathing apparatus.

The overall winner of the firefighters race was Scott McGraw from Melbourne MFB. L - R: David Bruce, Dep. Chief Fire Officer, Melb MFB., who presented the medals, Scott McGraw, Peter Richard, Manager Scott Safety.
