Theme revealed for National Safe Work Month 2023

Safe Work Australia has released the theme and campaign kit for National Safe Work Month, taking place in October 2023. The overarching theme for 2023 is “For everyone’s safety, work safely” — encouraging everyone to prioritise health and safety in the workplace.

The weekly themes are “Working together to manage risks at work” (1–8 October); “Working together to protect workers’ mental health” (9–15 October); “Working together to support all workers” (16–22 October); and “Working together to ensure a safe and healthy workplace” (23–31 October).

The campaign kit has a range of digital customisable resources to help workers take part, including logos, a poster, a video call background (for Teams/Zoom), social tile and an email signature graphic. Safe Work Australia will add additional resources to the campaign kit in the coming weeks and months. It will also be running the SafeTea campaign again in 2023, with further information and new concepts to be shared soon.

Employers and workers are encouraged to start planning their work health and safety activities for October by joining National Safe Work Month. To participate, go to the National Safe Work Month website and download resources from the campaign kit to customise and share at your workplace. Those participating in National Safe Work Month can also follow Safe Work Australia on social media to keep up to date on new campaign materials and updates, and use the hashtags #SafeWorkMonth on social media, and #SafeTea if they are running a SafeTea event.
