Registrations now open for dangerous goods conference
The 2nd Dangerous Goods Conference will take place in Perth from 23–24 March 2016, covering the safe handling, storage and transportation of dangerous goods with a strong focus on regulatory reforms, legislation and compliance.
The quantity of dangerous goods being stored, handled and transported across the country continues to increase as economic activity in Western Australia remains strong, particularly in the mining and resources sector.
With increased activity comes increased safety risks and dangerous goods accidents. Many of these incidents are caused by human error, followed by mechanical or design failure, and can result in the loss of product, damage to equipment, serious injuries or fatalities.
The conference will aim to explore the variety of dangerous goods incidents that occur locally and nationally each year, and provide practices and strategies to prevent and reduce the overall number of incidents.
Featured speakers include:
- Dr Kent Gregory — Physicist, Director of SA Radiation, who has 20 years of experience in the radiation safety industry.
- Adrian Tusek — Dangerous Goods Inspector, Civil Aviation Safety Authority, who is also a member of the International Civil Aviation Organization.
- Ben Firkins — Dangerous Goods Inspector, Civil Aviation Safety Authority, who is also Vice-Chair of the ICAO Dangerous Goods Panel.
