Last chance to get involved in National Safe Work Month
October has been National Safe Work Month, and as the month draws to a close, Safe Work Australia is reminding workplaces there is still time to get involved.
The theme for week four is “Be safe. Be healthy. Because…there’s so much more to look forward to”, which recognises the many other activities that are important in people’s lives, such as hobbies, sport, travel or volunteering beyond their work life.
Dennis Howe, managing director of Howe Farming and one of the campaign’s ambassadors, speaks about his reasons for being safe and healthy at work in a short video.
“As the managing director of Howe Farming, I understand how important it is to get workers home safely. I understand that work is not everything to everyone. There are other things outside of work that people enjoy,” he said.
The Virtual Seminar Series with a focus on safe design of work and work processes are still running, while the Workplace Participation Reward, which offers a prize pack valued at up to $5000 (incl GST), is also still open. Entries can be emailed to NSWM@swa.gov.au before Wednesday, 4 November 2015.
Workers can also download the free National Safe Work Month smartphone app or go online to find out what work health and safety events continue to take place across the country.
