IOSH past president to speak at upcoming Sydney event
Karen McDonnell, the IOSH immediate past president and OSH Policy Advisor at the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), has been announced by the NSCA Foundation as the international keynote speaker for the SAFETYconnect conference.
McDonnell is recognised as a global leader in the health and safety sector and has been with the RoSPA for over 25 years. An experienced speaker at events across the UK, Europe and North America, she will share her thoughts and experience on the latest trends impacting the sector globally.
The organisers also confirmed last week that WHS-focused law firm Sparke Helmore will conduct a mock trial as part of the conference program. A similar presentation at last year’s National Safety Conference by the firm was the highlight of the event.
This year, the team will present a mock trial based around a high-voltage electrical accident that will focus on height safety and the duty of care that any organisation needs to consider when it comes to potential risks and personal safety of workers in all industrial sectors.
SAFETYconnect 2017 will be held at Rosehill Gardens on 16–17 August and features an international quality two-day conference and a trade exhibition. Registrations, including early bird and NSCA Foundation member discounts, are now open at www.safety-connect.com.au.
