Changes to NSW WHS Regulation: have your say

SafeWork NSW is encouraging employers, workers, unions and industry experts to provide feedback on changes to the Work Health and Safety Regulation.

The Regulation sets out detailed rules and requirements to support the Work Health and Safety Act 2011, such as managing risks, workplace procedures and safety measures for all industries.

The remake of the Regulation provides the NSW Government with an opportunity to improve, modernise and streamline the Regulation. Public consultation will assist in making sure that changes remain relevant to current work practices. The consultation process is an opportunity for feedback on both the nationally harmonised elements of the Regulation, as well as those that are NSW specific.

“SafeWork NSW is dedicated to securing safe and healthy workplaces in NSW so that businesses thrive, and employees can go to work confident in their safety and wellbeing,” said Trent Curtin, Head of SafeWork NSW.

“This consultation will help us ensure that our approach to advice, education and managing risks in the workplace is informed by the latest industry trends and environmental factors.

“I encourage everyone to participate in this consultation to help shape the future of workplace safety regulation in our state.”

The Work Health and Safety Regulation Remake Discussion Paper is available for review and comment on the NSW Government Have Your Say platform and will inform any necessary amendments to the Regulation.

Consultation closes 4 March 2025: https://www.haveyoursay.nsw.gov.au/whs-regulation-2017.
