$15m grants program to improve workplace safety
WorkCover NSW has announced the continuation of a three-year $15 million grants program to improve safety in the workplace.
NSW Industrial Relations Minister, John Della Bosca, said the grants are available to employer associations, registered trade unions and not-for-profit training organisations to fund research, education and development projects in workplace safety and injury management.
"The program - to be run from July 2008 to June 2011 - will offer grants for eligible organisations to conduct applied research projects, education initiatives and to develop products and services," he said.
Funding would be allocated at $5 million each year for the three years of the project and will be disrtibuted as grants available in two categories: education and training; and applied research.
Tenders for the $4 million education and training part of the program are expected to be advertised this month, while tenders for the $1 million applied research category will be advertised later in the year.
