Greencap Onsite Contractor Verification service
Using contractors is an integral part of business management, and the outsourcing of business functions is increasingly common across a wide range of industries. The outsourcing of this work does not remove a PCBU’s obligations in ensuring the health and safety of the contractor, their employees or other subcontractors.
Effectively, PCBUs have the same responsibilities to contractors as they have to their employees and this is reflected in the WHS Model Bill (Act), 2011.
Onsite Contractor Verification is a service offered by Greencap (a subsidiary of Wesfarmers Industrial and Safety). The service can provide a cost-effective way of verifying the contractors actually apply their WHS management system as presented in the prequalification process, providing adequate resources and processes to comply with a PCBU’s safety law duties, and assisting Company Officers in meeting their due diligence obligations by having adequate governance, information and decisions to manage WHS.
Through effective management of contractor health and safety risks, PCBUs can reduce the risk of injuries occurring, minimise exposure to litigation and a have a better chance of completing projects on time and within budget.
