WA Safety Show back in August
Western Australia’s largest workplace safety trade show, the WA Safety Show, returns to Perth from 24 to 26 August 2010.
The inaugural show in 2008 in Perth attracted 4000 visits, with the mining, building and construction and manufacturing sectors dominating the visitor list.
WA Safety Show organiser Marie Kinsella, Managing Director of Australian Exhibitions & Conferences, expects similar attendances for this year’s event: “This show only comes around once every two years and the response to the inaugural WA Safety Show highlighted that the West deserves and demands local support from specialist suppliers.
“In one afternoon at the WA Safety Show, visitors can find solutions to the vast array of safety challenges that they face - issues such as radiation, noise, vehicle and lone worker safety, materials handling and even wellness.”
As well as staying abreast of the technological advances in safety, the WA Safety Show promises to keep visitors informed of the latest regulatory changes. A new model Work Health and Safety Act to be implemented right around Australia was announced in December 2009 and seminars at the show will outline the implications that the new Act will have for Western Australian workplaces.
“Western Australia’s position on the harmonisation of OSH laws is different,” Kinsella says. “We will have experts at the show to explain what sorts of changes employers can expect to see and how they should prepare for them.”
The WA Safety Show will be concurrently held with the WA Safety Conference. The Conference is presented by the Safety Institute of Australia in WA and will feature more than 40 Australian and international speakers. It will run from 24 to 26 August at the Perth Convention Exhibition Centre.
