Safety doesn’t happen by accident
Friday, 29 October, 2010
Australia’s largest workplace health and safety trade show, The Safety Show Sydney, and Sydney Materials Handling will be held at the Sydney Showground, Sydney Olympic Park from 26 to 28 October 2010.
Visitors to The Safety Show Sydney and Sydney Materials Handling will be provided with an opportunity to keep up-to-date with new developments in OHS from the broad range of specialist exhibitors. Visitors will also be able to see the latest in safety and materials handling solutions at the Live Demonstration Stage, including case studies, hands-on demonstrations and practical workshops.
Safety means freedom from danger, risk or injury, but how do you stay safe with so many things that could go wrong? By being aware, of course! Educating yourself and others about safety issues will not only keep accidents to a minimum, it will help to save lives.
The Safety Show and Sydney Materials Handling feature the latest products and services pertaining to safety in the workplace. These include personal protective equipment; health and safety management software; risk management tools; safety signage; security and communication equipment; health and safety consultants; insurance products; medical and rehabilitation services; first aid; vehicle safety; hygiene services and equipment; and legislation advisory organisations.
For those responsible for fire protection and life safety, the Fire & Security feature, which was launched in 2009, will be a must-see area. This zone showcases fire and emergency training, installation systems and fire retardant garments. You don’t have to be a safety manager or safety specialist to benefit from this universally applicable feature however - it has also proven highly relevant to architects, facility managers, specifiers, security consultants and building managers.
Other zones include Corporate Health, Building & Height Safety, Training & Technology and Electrical Safety. In total, the Safety Show will boast more than 300 exhibitors.
The Safety Show and Sydney Materials Handling are expected to draw similar crowds to the 10,162 visits recorded in 2009. With acres of safety, materials handling and logistics products and services under one roof, the two co-located shows will be the largest event during Safe Work Australia Week. Sydney Materials Handling will be the venue for the Australian Warehousing Association’s first Warehousing Today conference on 27 October.
The themes of the inaugural conference will include distribution strategy; the environmentally friendly warehouse; facility layout; material flow and productivity; compliance in the warehouse; people and the new IR laws; recycling and reverse logistics; the ‘smart’ forklift; and trends in transport.
An exciting part of the trade show will be the 2010 National Forklift Championship, which will culminate in the finals on the last day of Sydney Materials Handling, 28 October, when the 2009 champions will defend their titles. This will be the first time the championship is held at Sydney Materials Handling and a new team event will bring added excitement to the 2010 championship.
